TIPS & TRICKS FOR HANGING YOUR GARLAND

This series of instructions with accompanying videos will make hanging your garlands a breeze!

SMOOTHING THE TASSELS

  1. Hold the tassels under some running water for a few seconds to saturate them.
  2. Squeeze out the excess water with a towel.
  3. Give the tassels a shake.
  4. They should hang nicely now!

ATTACHING THE GARLAND TO YOUR MANTEL

  1. Small tack nails.
  2. CommandTM Hooks.

MEASURING YOUR MANTEL

NOTE: Your measurements may vary slightly, depending on your mantel width.

  1. Measure the full width of your mantel to get Distance A.
Ex: Your mantel is 66” wide. Distance A = 66.
  2. Hammer your first tack nails (or attach your Command TM Hooks) 1” from each end of your mantel. Let the nail stick out from your mantel approximately 1/4”. The measurement between these nails is Distance B.
Ex: You now have 64” between the nails. Distance B = 64.
  3. Divide Distance B by 3 to get Distance C.
         Ex: 64” divided by 3 is approximately 21 3/8”. Distance C = 21 3/8.
  4. Measure Distance C from the nail on one side of your mantel and hammer your next tack nail (or attach your hook). Repeat from the other side.
  5. You should now have 4 evenly spaced nails (or hooks) on your mantel!

HANGING YOUR GARLAND

  1. The garlands have 134 beads between tassels.
  2. On each end, let 4 beads overhang with the tassel. So, you’ll have a tassel with 4 beads above it hanging over the end nails.
  3. Simply gently pull the beads apart to expose a bit of string for hanging over the nail.
  4. You will now have 126 beads left between the two ends. Divide that by 3 to get 42 beads.
  5. Count out 42 beads, gently pull the beads apart to expose some string, and hang over your next nail.
  6. Repeat for the last nail.
  7. You have 3 evenly spaced swags!

HANGING YOUR CHARMS

  1. If you have 3 swags, you have enough charms to place a charm at the peak and valley of each swag.
  2. Connect a provided hook to your first charm.
  3. For the end charms: count in 2 beads from the end to hang your end charms – this will ensure they hang nicely.
  4. Finish by hanging a charm in the center of each swag and at the two center peaks.

CHANGING YOUR CHARMS

  1. Once you’ve hung your garland the first time, you can easily change your charms with each holiday or season by simply taking the current charms off the hooks and placing the new ones on the hooks!
  2. Each set comes with 8 hooks for 7 charms, so if you drop or lose one, don’t worry – there’s an extra!
